20. Elaine Lewis Modern Florentine (Bargello) Embroidery Saturday 13th March 2027
On completion of Elaines City and Guilds course I have asked Elaine to teach her way of the traditional Florentine embroidery, sometimes known now as Bargello. The technique’s closest association is with Florence, Italy, where it flourished during the Renaissance from the 14th through the 17th centuries. Elaine has researched this subject and completed a beautiful panel that covers the sides of her sewing box, taking the traditional technique and bringing it into the 21st century using a variety of threads and modern colours in an abstracted free form style of this traditional technique. This will be a fun and colourful class and I can not wait to see the results of this new class.
