Swedish Weaving with Alison Hughes Saturday 5th December 2026
Alison has just completed her City and Guilds embroidery course. As part of her research project she extensively sampled Swedish weaving which is so beautiful and a new technique to us. You will create a Christmas Card and samples of this fascinating type of counted thread work.
Swedish weaving, also commonly known as huck embroidery or huck weaving, is an embroidery technique where yarn or heavyweight thread is woven through the vertical threads (floats) of a fabric without piercing the base cloth. It creates decorative
geometric patterns that are visible only on the front, making it ideal for double-sided projects
