Sashiko with Stephen Rowley
Saturday 23rd March 2024
10am – 4pm in the Laundry Room
This class includes a kit to make samples of sashiko.
The word Sashiko translates from Japanese to English as little stabs. Their philosophy of make do and mend, is so revered and the stitching methods and patterns are so recognisable, and so beautiful in the face of hardship.
Each pattern has its own name and Steven will help you learn this in the workshop. His knowledge and tales of his travels whilst producing samples of this simple and elegant form of embroidery will be a very worthwhile and satisfying day of stitching.
